Spring Your Goals Back to Life

t’s hard to believe that March is here already! The first two months of the new year have flown by, and we are getting closer and closer to the first day of spring! For many of you, March brings new hope that we are getting closer to the end of winter, and warmer weather is right around the corner. For many of you, this also brings on anxiety, as it’s a reminder that you haven’t made much progress towards your New Years’ resolutions. In fact, about 50% have already given up on them. However, it is not too late to get back on track, and to help you get that summer body that you wanted. Here are three easy tips to help you spring your goals back into gear!

1. Revisit Your Goals
If you came out of the gate in the New Year on fire, but have burnt out by February, it’s time to take a step back and revisit your goals. Maybe the goals that you have set at the start of the new year were too lofty, or maybe they sounded good in theory- but in reality, they weren’t actually that much of a priority for you. In either case, it is okay to go back and set some new ones. The nice thing about goals is that they are personal to you. You can adapt, adjust, and make changes based on how it is impacting your life. If you have given up on your New Year resolutions already, it’s okay! Look yourself in the mirror, take a step back, and honestly reevaluate what goals are important to you, and what isn’t.

2. Remember Your “Why”
If you are part of the 50% of people who have given up on your New Year’s Resolutions by now, maybe you haven’t truly embraced your “why.” Having an important “why” will always help you stay on track towards accomplishing your goals. Often times people get so caught up in the goal itself, that they don’t consider the actual “why” behind it. Is your goal to lose 20 pounds, or is it to feel confident in your bathing suit when you’re at the beach this summer? Finding your “why” is one of the most important steps to accomplishing your goal. It is the emotional factor and the real reason why you want to accomplish your goal. If on January 1st you set a goal but didn’t think deeply enough to find your “why” now is the time to do that. Take the time to find your “why,” and use that as motivation to get started again with your goal.

3. Realize It’s Not Too Late
It is normal for someone to want to dismiss their goals when they fall off track because it is a coping mechanism to protect themselves from feeling like they failed. However, it is never too late to get started again or get back on track. Just because someone used the New Year to set a new goal, it doesn’t mean that it has to get accomplished in this calendar year, or it is a failure. Every day is a new opportunity to get started, and just because someone hasn’t made strides in the first two months of the new year, doesn’t mean that they have failed to reach their goal. It just means that maybe they need to reconsider the goal or understand that if they start now they will be able to still make progress towards it.

Spring is a time for renewed life, and it can also be a time for renewed goals. It’s not too late to start working towards your goals, and I am here to help in any way.
